Ilusionist roughs and colour keys.
As I moved to Edinburgh I was one of the first people to be put on the background team, one of my first tasks were to create the colourkeys for the first 3 minutes of the movie. Sylvain wanted the movie to start out monochromatic and move in to colour as they traveled to Scotland. The idea was abandoned and the colourkeys not used in the end. Backgrounds from The Illusionist
I was working as a background artist on the (oscar nominated!) film The Illusionist from 2006 to 2009. Below are some of the final backgrounds and a few of the layout drawings from the film. They were done on A3 paper and painted digitally. Some of these paintings are credit to the brilliant Bjarne Hansen who I worked with on the film. Big shout out to all of the crew!
